1. I have been working on covering magazine pages with tape to make a purse and I've got to say.........IT'S HARD!! I would never suggest you start out making any project using the tape method. I've tried a couple different thickness of tape and neither one of them are easy. I think covering the paper with contact paper is the easiest but you have to make the pieces longer by 1/4 inch. The reason is the pieces are so much thicker you have to allow extra paper to give you room to join each link. The taped links just don't want to slide into each other when your joining. If anyone has any suggestions or thinks I'm doing something wrong, please advise. Of course I've got the purse started and have to finish but I'm not sure I will ever do it again. I will post a picture of the finished project when I complete it. It started out to be a purse, but I've now changed it to a make up bag and before I finish it might become a coin purse, lol
2. SO.......I've been trying different brands of packing tape to find the best one to use for covering my pages. My 4th purchase is my favorite and is also the one suggested by wrapper purse maker. Here is what I've tried: > From Walmart-HD Clear by DUCK - TOO THICK TO USE > From Walmart-Scotch super strength - TOO THICK TO USE > From Staples - Staples brand clear view - Not too bad, links don't slide into each other very well > From Staples - Staples brand called quick start - WINNER
My staples store did not have it in the store so I had to order it off the internet from Staples website. The package I ordered came with a dispenser and 4 rolls of tape. I'm going to have to make ALOT of purses to use it all but it was worth every penny.
